Let's talk about it!

In 2025, sponsored by a grant from the Jewish Heritage Fund, the YAC worked to create a series of social media posts, including this video to the left, that highlighted a key message that they felt would be effective to today's high-school aged youth. That message was "One Step at a Time", relying on the idea that there is no challenge or obstacle that can't be overcome with patience, determination, and the ability to work through your problems, piece by piece.

NAMI Louisville and the YAC hosted a night at the Kentucky Science Center focused on the different ways a high school student may need to heal, and how community and friendship can be supportive during times of struggling.

YAC Members were tasked with making interesting skits, presentations, and interactive lessons based on their real-world experience with healing.

The YAC Students and our attending audience had some great conversations about things in their life they had overcome, and we were proud to host a successful and interesting public event.

NAMI Louisville worked with the youth in attendance on the power of reflecting on your emotions and learning how to better process feelings, even in times of stress.

We opened the floor for youth to ask questions to adults in the community and have open conversations on hard topics, and answer questions based on their experiences.

A wide array of speakers joined the group for a panel discussion surrounding mental health in different areas of life. Professionals in their fields talked about the intersection of mental and physical health.
