Anne & Amy – NAMI Louisville’s Facilitators
(From left to right) Anne Heard and Amy Lee are NAM Louisville’s Basics facilitators. They have contributed so much to the NAMI Louisville mission to to strengthen families and individuals affected by mental illness through education, support and advocacy. They work hard each year to make recovery possible for everyone affected by mental illness while ending the stigma associated with this disease.
Anne was a teacher for special needs children for over 30 years. She is a parent of two children with mental health issues. She has been an active member with NAMI Louisville for over 10 years. Besides teaching NAMI Basics, she has been involved in hospital outreach, Family to Family facilitating, Team Captain for the Annual Walks and Co-facilitated Support Groups. Her passion is teaching NAMI Louisville education classes.
Amy Lee has been involved in the realm of education for 20 years. She is a strong advocate for recovery and education for NAMI Louisville signature programs. She has a child that suffers from mental health issues. She has a passion for facilitating NAMI classes. We are so proud to have these two facilitators with NAMI.
NAMI Basics is a free, 6-week education program for parents and family caregivers of children and teens who are experiencing symptoms of a mental illness or whom have already been diagnosed.
NAMI Family-to-Family is a class for families, partners and friends of individuals with mental illness. The course is designed to facilitate a better understanding of mental illness, increase coping skills and empower participants to become advocates for their family members.
